Sometimes you have a goal that you have set. Or, you set a goal and you didn't realize it. Whatever the case may be you might have to take a double take on it. Somethings are more important than the full success of your goal. You never know how much of what you currently have is worth until you lose it all. I have a friend. We will call her Scarlet. She really liked a guy. She cared about him a lot and they were the best of friends but she wanted more. Then things got a little weird and she backed away. But it was too late. Scarlet ruined her friendship. At first she didn't realize how much of a friend he was until she realized how much she didn't have someone to talk to, hang out with, or cry on that would always be there like him. I told her that she needed to look at the big picture. Is trying to date him that important? she said "No!" I told her the only thing she can do is to tell him how she felt. Not about how much she wanted to be with him but how she wanted the friendship more than anything. she asked "Would that fix it?" I told her, "I don't know. Only time will tell. You can't force it. He is the only one who can answer that question."
Another example. A guy wants to buy this house. So, he spends all of his time particularly at work. His girlfriend misses him and expresses her feelings about how she feels left out. He then looks at his goal and he realizes that he can work less to accomplish his goals, it will just take a little longer and he loves his girlfriend. He can always get a house but you can't always get a girl.
So, look at the big picture and make sure you know when to cut your losses.
